Class sizes will be limited. Be sure to register early! Registration for Fall. QAA offers adult and children’s classes three times a year, as well as discounts on exhibits and entry fees to all members.

CLASS SCHEDULE FOR ADULTS

FA-1 Painting with Acrylics Instructor, Michael Petringa
Each student will work at his/own pace. We will concentrate on composition, technique, color & perspective. No previous painting experience is necessary. Bring 2-3 reference photos if not, then from magazines, calendars; etc, to the first class. 10/4-11/8 Monday 10-12noon Member $96 Non Member $116 (6 classes)

FA-2 Oil Painting for all Levels Instructor, Isabel Shamitz
An understanding of color values and the ability to use photography and assembled objects as visual references to be captured on a 2-dimensional surface is explored. A choice of group or personal still-life projects, along with individual attention at all levels will be offered. 10/4-11/8 Monday 7-9pm Member $96 Non Member $116 (6 classes)

FA-3 All Media Drawing & Painting Instructor, Edwina Caci
Select your favorite medium & subject. Edwina specializes in portraits. Individual attn for all levels 10/5-11/16 Tuesday 11-1:30pm Member $140 Non Member $160 (7 classes)

FA-4 The Magic of Pastels Instructor, Julianne Molloy Bithoney
Join Julianne as she leads you through the creation of a vibrant pastel landscape. Learn the proper use of pastels, the different types of paper, the shadows and highlights that make your art come alive! Pastels will be provided. FA-5 Figure Sculpture Instructor, Dan Myers
Create a realistic likeness in clay of the nude live female model. This 6 week course systematically covers gesture/pose, proportion, bone & muscle anatomy, details of features & use of tools. Each artist is urged from the beginning to develop their own artistic, expressive interpretation of the figure leading to unique artistic results. References will accompany the course & a CD of class progress will be available at the end of the class. 10/6-11/10 Wednesday 7-10pm Member $206 Non-Member $220 (6 classes)

FA-6 Adult Clay Works Instructor, Caroline Arcidiacono
Learn instructions in hand building and wheel throwing techniques. Beginners will learn the basics of clay: slab and coil construction, wheel work & glazing. Advanced students will explore more complicated pieces. All materials and firing included in tuition. 10/7-12/2 Thursday 7-10pm. Member $215 Non Member $235 (8 classes)

FA-7 Beginning/Intermediate Watercolor Instructor,
John Marshall Dyke
Students will learn the fundamentals and explore the many techniques of watercolor. 10/7-11/11 Thursday 10-12noon Member$96 Non-member$116 (6 classes)

FA-8 Splish-Splash Watercolor Class Instructor, Tony Andrade
Beginners and Intermediate We'll work on various techniques, discuss papers, brushes, colors, values, composition and more. We'll do still life, big and small. Discuss how to begin and when to stop. Paint fruit and glass and earth and trees and sky. We will take a dip in water and explore its reflections. This and more. You will also be expected to question and divulge what troubles you, and your attempts to feel comfortable with what can be sometimes an illusive medium. FA-9 Watermedia Instructor, Michael Domina
Come join this motivational and inspirational watercolor class designed for all levels. Michael will give a demonstration on each step of the painting and students will follow. Drawing skills not required 10/8-11/19 Friday 10-12:30 (7 classes) Member $140 Non Member $160

FA-10 Painting with Colored Pencils Instructor, Michael Petringa This two-dimensional medium is referred to as a painting. Explore the basics of painting with colored pencils. Colored pencils are convenient, portable, economical and forgiving. From basic color layering, burnishing and lifting, to using water soluble pencils to create beautiful florals, still lifes, and landscapes Supply list available upon request 5/7-6/11 Friday 10-12 (6 classes) Member $96 Non Member $116

FA-11 The Miracle of Vision Instructor, Morgan Davis
Novices and Intermediates alike are encouraged to join in this class that will focus primarily on cultivating the student's visual acuity. Through the wonder of oil paints and working from life, either chosen individually by the student, or collectively as a class, we will embark on a journey where we will learn to see ( with all our senses) and render even the most subtle and interdependent relationships of light form and color. Discover the potential of the medium and learn how to harness it to create the lifelike, three dimensional scene on the two dimensional surface. All levels 10/15-11/19 Friday 7-9pm. FA-12 Portrait Sculpture Instructor, Dan Myer
Create a realistic life size portrait likeness in clay from a real model. This is a hand on, guided course in achieving 3 dimensional verisimilitudes and also incorporate your own artistic, expressive style. At least 40 pages of handouts & photos will document every phase of portrait sculpture: from bone & muscle anatomy, facial expression and detailed guidance in sculpting features to firing in a kiln, repair, and patina for exhibit. 10/10-11/14 Sunday 10-1pm. 6 classes Member $206 Non Member $220

FC-1 Drawing to Painting Instructor Yael Kolbech
Ages 9 & Up
Students will explore basic drawing elements of line and composition, color mixing, and work with various mediums. 10/4-11/15 Monday 4-6pm Members $112 Non Member $120 7 classes

FC-2 Art in the Afternoon Instructor Yael Kolbech
Ages 6 & Up
Students will create ways to paint using various mediums, while developing their drawing skills and then applying them to paper or canvas. Individual attention will be applied. 10/6-11/17 Wednesday 4-6pm Members $112 Non Member $ 120 7 classes

FC-3 Art at Work Instructor Caroline Arcidiacono
(teens and young artist starting at age 8)
Students will learn the elements of art with focus on drawing with the principles of design, color & composition. Color mixing working with different mediums will be explored. 10/9-11/20 Saturday 10-12noon Members $112 Non Members $120 7 class

Hand build, coil, slab, the potter's wheel, and glazing will be explored. All pieces will be glazed & fired. All materials included in cost. 10/9-11/20 Saturday 1-3pm Members $120 Non Members $130 7 classes

RULES AND REGULATIONS

REGISTER EARLY-It is helpful to register early so we can tell if there are sufficient numbers to conduct a class. Class sizes are limited. Registration along with payment in full must be received no later than 5 days before the first class due to scheduling. Our classes have limited enrollment and fill quickly, so act now to avoid disappointment. All classes must meet minimum enrollment. A $10 non-refundable fee is included in tuition. If a student cancels a registration at least ten days before a course begins, a refund will be granted. If a cancellation occurs during the ten-day period, the QAA may provide credit in a future offering. No refund will be allowed after the start of a class.

CONFIRMATION-
We do not send written confirmation, but we will notify you if there is a problem with your registration or changes that you should know about or cancellations of classes. If a class is canceled, your check will be returned within a week of the cancellation. A teacher who postpones a class during some emergency will notify students. There will be a make-up date in the event of a weather cancellation or teacher postponement.

PHOTOGRAPHS-
Occasionally, the QAA will take photos of course participants during classes for our advertising. If you have any objections to the use of photos of you or your child, please notify the QAA office before the course begins

SIBLING DISCOUNT-
Please take $10 off of the total tuition if you are registering more than one child from your family for our courses. (Workshops cannot be discounted)

MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNT-
To receive a membership discount for a course, your dues must be current throughout the term of the course you are taking. M-member NM-non members Members receive $10 discount if registering for more than one adult class
